GreenBy3 Begins Work on the Catalyst Center

GreenBy3 has begun work on its latest project, the Catalyst Center, a new center for entrepreneurs at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. GreenBy3 is coordinating and overseeing construction of a 2,000-square-foot space that will be transformed into a dynamic center for entrepreneurs to gather to collaborate, access resources and get the help they need to take their business to the next level.

Demolition of existing space, which was previously used as the SCORE office, began March 17 and the project is expected to be complete this summer.

Work begins to renovate the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce to include a “Catalyst Center for Entrepreneurs”.

In the simplest terms, Charleston-based GreenBy3 manages and coordinates construction and renovation projects for various clients, ranging from nonprofits to high-tech software firms. GreenBy3 calls its approach to project management a mindshift, as the customer’s needs are always first and they are met with a deliberate focus on construction coordination, team collaboration and building sustainability.

GreenBy3’s role in the design and construction of the Catalyst Center is to represent the Chamber from concept to project completion so it can continue to focus on its work serving the Charleston regional business community.

The Catalyst Center is the fourth project GreenBy3 has worked on that involves the cultivation of startup companies, which impacts the local economy greatly. GreenBy3 previously acted as an advisor on the Charleston Digital Corridor’s incubators Flagship 1 and 2. In addition, GreenBy3 worked on the reclamation, design and construction of Biz611, an incubator for startup companies in Hendersonville, N.C.

“We are excited to be working on this project with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce,” said Jorge Riano, president and founder of GreenBy3. “The Catalyst Center is going to be a great space where aspiring and existing entrepreneurs can connect, receive information, meet with mentors and take advantage of programs designed for their business start-up growth.”

GreenBy3 engaged Lauren Sanchez Design and Harbor Contracting to ensure the Catalyst Center is unique and modern, yet comfortable and inspiring. The Catalyst Center will include areas that can be used for individual work as well as collaborative work among entrepreneurs. Conference space will be also available.

GreenBy3 specializes in the reuse of unique materials, which not only brings project costs down, it adds character to a space. For example, GreenBy3 is providing glass panels, salvaged from a previous deconstruction project, for the Catalyst Center’s conference room. In addition, GreenBy3 is building a one-of-a-kind coffee bar from reclaimed wood for the Catalyst Center.
