GreenBy3 Hosts Henderson County Young Professionals at Biz611

On Thursday, September 4th, the GreenBy3 team hosted the monthly Henderson County Young Professionals (HCYP) social at Biz611, the green business incubator in Hendersonville, NC that GreenBy3 helped create and which currently houses our second office. HCYP, led by Andrew Tate, President and CEO at Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, is a networking group for professionals in the Henderson County area that meets for a monthly social to catch up, announce events and make new connections.     GreenBy3 was fortunate to have hosted September’s monthly social, as we were able to provide details about the construction of Biz611 and the planning and sustainable technology that went into the effort. The social was well attended as usual with many familiar faces and a few new ones, including Biz611 tenants George Jones of ED3 Group and Kendall Weaver and Kevin Stipe of Peppermint Media Group. The wine and local craft beers at the social were donated by the great folks at Just Vino of Flat Rock, NC. Overall, it was another successful social in the books for...

Completion of Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Catalyst Center

On Thursday, August 21st, the Catalyst Center at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce made its official debut to a crowd of over 200. The week before the grand opening, our GreenBy3 team was busy refining all the individual elements into the cohesive final design.  The purpose of the Catalyst Center – to create a unique, inspiring space that caters to the needs of entrepreneurs and the goals of the Chamber of Commerce – was the guiding vision for the design and execution of the project, and our team has stuck closely to that from start to finish. The results are a space that our clients love, that their clients love, and of which we are proud.  Sustainability is one of the guiding principles in GreenBy3’s business model and it is something we bring to all of our client projects, often in the form of custom furniture and accent pieces made from lovingly reclaimed materials. For the Catalyst Center, our team built a 12’x4′ table out of maple flooring that we reclaimed from the Cigar Factory; we also...

Presenting the Tiny Office

GreenBy3’s Tiny Office, a project that has been in the works since 2011, was slated to make its debut last Saturday in Hendersonville, SC as part of ECO’s 7th annual Green Homes and Edible Gardens Tour. The Tiny Office was first conceived in March of 2011. Inspired by the Tiny Homes movement, it was intended to serve as an educational tool, a satellite office for use at project sites and, in the event of a hurricane evacuation, a business continuity plan. A team of 10 employees, interns and volunteers spent about three years designing and building the Tiny Office. Consistent with GreenBy3’s style, the Tiny Office was built from 95% reclaimed materials. It sits 16′ tall and 8′ wide atop a Bobcat trailer and features a rainwater catchment system, a GreenBy3-built Humanure toilet and foot pump-powered, rain-fed sink and will soon be equipped to run off solar power. The Tiny Office has been a labor of love for GreenBy3, and wasn’t without its share of unique obstacles. In fact, just hours before its...
